How to install Windows XP into Acer Aspire 4710 Notebook

Acer has been launched a new model Acer Aspire 4710, this model specially designed for Windows Vista. But now most of the people interested to work in windows Xp because windows vista got enough problems. Because of this model designed for Windows vista, its bios’ setting is not compactable with windows Xp. If you try to install windows xp, error will occur saying that there is "NO HARDDISK" has been found in your system, this is happens because windows not able load the SATA drivers for the installation.

How to Resolve it??
To resolve this issue and to install the windows Xp into your Acer 4710 Laptop, you have to provide the SATA drivers during the installation, unfortunately laptop doesn't have floppy drive, So you may required to update your bios version. There is an ISO file which may help you to update your bios. Download this file and burn into CD using Nero Express. Choose the option that Burn from image. Start the laptop with burned CD, it will take you into bios updating wizard where it will update the bios automatically. After updating computer will restart. Press F2 and enter into bios settings. In Main menu you able to find the option called SATA Mode, by Default it is in ACHI Mode, select the SATA mode and press enter then choose the IDE mode.(See the picture below) Press F10 and save your bios setting. Now you can boot from Windows XP CD and it is ready to install the Windows XP into your Acer Aspire Notebook. Download the Windows Xp Drivers.

Dell is now launching the Blu-ray drive as an optional extra on its XPSTM M1710 notebook, aimed at high-performance gaming and technology applications. Dell have this option available to customers worldwide, though it hasn't yet been extended to any other notebooks in Dell's range. Blue ray Disc has higher storage capacity, a main feature set that can be used for data storage and high-definition content delivery, and allows for backward compatibility with CDs and DVDs.

What is Blue-rayDisc?

The name Blu-ray is derived from the blue-violet laser used to read and write this type of disc. Because of this shorter wavelength (405 nm), substantially more data can be stored on a Blu-ray Disc than on the common DVD format, which uses a red, 650 nm laser. In comparison to HD DVD, which also uses a blue laser, Blu-ray Disc has more information capacity per layer (currently 25 GB, but test media is up to 33 GB). However, Blu-Ray discs are expected to be more expensive than HD DVD discs, at least initially. Sony has released 50 GB recordable BDs and will soon be releasing 50 GB rewritable discs.

The Blu-ray Disc is a similar format to PDD, another optical disc format developed by Sony (which has been available since 2004) but offering higher data transfer speeds. PDD was not intended for home video use and was aimed at business data archiving and backup, although currently it is gaining popularity as an HD video format medium and PlayStation 3 medium. The UDO format is aimed at similar purposes. Blu-ray is currently embroiled in a bitter format war against the HD DVD disc.

And features like, You can capture video, as motion JPEGs and saved as AVI files, up to the capacity of the card. You can zoom, but the facility is digital, so the image degrades. Still, our informal testing showed the SD450 footage to be as smooth as the D550's and equal in the quality of its video and sound. You wouldn't quite want to leave your camcorder at home, but digital-camera video has come a long way. And at 640-by-480 and 30 frames per second, I think you'll be using more of this feature in the future.

The SD450 scored quite well on our other tests. It averaged 1,400 lines of resolution, which is very good for a 5MP camera and just a touch better than the V530 managed. Boot time was just 2.5 secondsÂless than the V530 required. The 2.9-second recycle time was very good, but not as quick as the V530's 1.1 seconds and shutter lagÂmarginally more than with the V530. And there is no significant pincushion distortion and just a bit of the usual barrel distortion.

To enable wireless security (also known as Wired Equivalent Privacy, or WEP) for your MN-500 base station, follow these steps:
1. Open the Base Station Management Tool, and then click Security.
2. On the Security menu, click Wireless Security.
3. Click Enable wireless security.
4. In the Encryption strength drop-down list, click 128-bit or leave the default setting of 64-bit.
5. If you select 128-bit encryption, in the first Key box, type a wireless security (WEP) key.

If you select 64-bit encryption, you can type up to four WEP keys in the Key boxes.
6. If you selected 64-bit encryption, in the Key index drop-down list, click a key index.
The key index number indicates the WEP key that will be activated on the network. (There are four WEP keys.)
7. To save the wireless encryption, click Apply.
8. Update the WEP keys that are stored on each wireless device on your network.

Method 2: Media Access Control (MAC) Filter
When you deny unspecified clients permission to connect to the base station, only the clients who you specifically grant permission to in the MAC Address table can connect to the base station and use your network resources. This is a good option if you want to enforce the highest security level on your network because it helps to prevent unknown wireless clients from being able to join your network.

However, you must make sure to not prevent your own computer from connecting to the base station. If you deny unspecified MAC addresses from connecting, make sure that you type the MAC address of each of your network adapters in the MAC Address table, and then click to select the Allow connection check box.

If you do block your own access to the base station, you must restore the factory default settings by using the Reset button on the physical device, and then reconfigure the base station.

To deny unspecified clients connection permission, follow these steps:
1. Open the Base Station Management Tool, and then click Security.
2. On the Security menu, click MAC Filtering.
3. Click to select the Enable connection control check box.
4. If you do not want unspecified clients to connect to the base station, in the drop-down list, click Deny.

In this scenario, any client whose MAC address is not listed in the MAC Address table and granted permission to connect will not be able to connect to the base station or access the Internet.
5. If you clicked Deny in step 4, in the MAC Address table, specify the MAC address of any clients who you want to be able to connect to the base station, and then click to select the Allow Connection check box.
6. To save your changes, click Apply.

To allow specified clients connection permission, follow these steps:
1. Open the Base Station Management Tool, and then click Security.
2. On the Security menu, click MAC Filtering.
3. In the MAC Address table, specify the MAC address of the client who you want to grant connection permission to, and then click to select the Allow Connection check box.
4. Repeat this step for any additional clients for whom you want to grant connection permission. 5. Make sure that you include the MAC address of your adapter in the MAC address table so that you can access the network.
6. To save your changes, click Apply.

Note Only grant connection permission to specific clients if you have enabled connection control and denied connection permission to all unspecified clients. If you have not denied connection permission to unspecified clients, any client that has the correct wireless security (WEP) information or wired connection can connect to the base station and access network resources.

Method 3: Limit Domain Host Connection Protocol (DHCP) Clients to the Actual Number of Clients
You can limit the number of DHCP addresses that your base station uses to the number of actual computers on your network. To limit the Internet Protocol (IP) addresses that are available to the DHCP server, follow these steps:
1. Open the Base Station Management Tool, and then click Local Area Network.
2. Click to select the Enabled check box (if it is not already selected) to enable the DHCP server on the base station.
3. Type a starting IP address and an ending IP address for the pool. Do not include the base station IP address in the IP address pool.

For example, if you are using the default base station IP address (192.168.2.1), and you have five computers on your network, type an address range of 192.168.2.2 through 192.168.2.6.
4. Select a lease time for the assigned IP addresses.
The default time is two hours.

Microsoft Corp chairman Mr Bill Gates unveiled new products that promise to cut down on spam, secure computer networks and make it easier to find information on p e r s o n a l computers. The S m a r t S c re e n technology, to hit the markets in mid-2004 as an add-on to most of Microsoft’s email software, will filter e-mails to prevent unwanted advertising and malicious messages from reaching recipients’ inboxes. Microsoft, which vowed to improve the security and reliability of its software in a ‘Trustworthy Computing’ initiative nearly two years ago, also said it will introduce new server-based software to secure computer networks. Dubbed ‘Internet security and acceleration server,’ Microsoft said it will make the network protection product available in the first half of next year. The software will act as a secure firewall that can be deployed alongside existing firewalls made by other software companies, or alone. In order to tackle the increasing proliferation of information passing through desktop computers, Mr Gates demonstrated a new feature called ‘Stuff I’ve Seen,’ which could be incorporated into the next version of Windows, code-named Longhorn. “Longhorn is a very ambitious piece of work,’’ Mr Gates said adding, “We wanted to bring visualisation (of data) to a whole new level.’’ The new feature will allow users to track their files, e-mail, calendars, Web pages and other information that they see on their computers.

Microsoft Corp will charge $239 (186 euros) for the version of the Windows Vista operating system it hopes most consumers will buy, according to prices listed on Internet retailer Amazon.com’s Website.

Amazon.com, which has begun taking pre-orders for Microsoft Vista, also reveals list prices for two other versions. Those prices will be similar to what MS currently charges for comparable versions of Windows X. According to Amazon.com the version of Vista geared towards work use, Windows Vista Business, will cost $299.The consumer version, Windows Vista Home Basic, will cost $199 (155 euro), the same as Windows XP Home.

But Microsoft is hoping most consumers will embrace Windows Vista Premium, which offers entertainment capabilities such as the ability to record live television. That version is listed at $239 (186 euro). Similar functionality is available in the Media Centre edition of Windows XP, but that is only available pre-loaded onto a computer

The Homeland Security Department issued its own cyberalert hours later that attacks “could affect a large segment of the Internet community.’’ It said normal Internet operations probably would resume after such attacks stopped. It’s really important this just gets fixed before the bad guys start exploiting it for fun and recognition.’’ The flaw affecting the Internet’s “transmission control protocol,’’ or TCP, was discovered late last year by a computer researcher in Milwaukee. Paul Watson said he identified a method to reliably trick personal computers and routers into shutting down electronic conversations by resetting the machines remotely.

Experts previously said such attacks could take between four years and 142 years to succeed because they require guessing a rotating number from roughly four billion possible combinations. Watson said he can guess the proper number with as few as four attempts, which can be accomplished within seconds. Routers continually exchange important updates about the most efficient traffic routes between large networks. Continued successful attacks against routers can cause them to go into a standby mode, known as “dampening,’’ that can persist for hours. Cisco Systems Inc., which acknowledged its popular routers were among those vulnerable, distributed software repairs and tips to otherwise protect large corporate customers.
